Carolina To Host Key Conference Match-Ups This Weekend

Oct. 28, 2002

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina volleyball is ranked 13th in the latest USA Today/America Volleyball Coaches Association Division I Coaches Poll released today.

The Tar Heels look to extend a 10-match home winning streak this weekend and will host No. 23 Georgia Tech on Friday at 7 p.m. and Clemson at 6 p.m. Saturday. After falling from No. 11 in the polls with a loss to unranked Florida State last weekend, Carolina (21-2, 8-1) will have a chance to move back up in the rankings with a win against Georgia Tech. In the teams' first meeting of the season Oct. 5, Carolina came out on top with a 3-2 win.

The Tar Heels are led by senior outside hitter Laura Greene from Yadkinville, N.C., who is averaging 4.22 kills and 3.68 digs per game. She continues to build on her school record of 1,335 career digs.

Carolina has been ranked in the Top 25 for nine-straight weeks, including holding the highest-ever ranking for an ACC team at No. 11 for four-consecutive weeks.
