Maryland tops # 25 UNC, 3-2

Loss snaps 13 game winning streak.

The No. 25 UNC volleyball team lost it's first ACC match of the season Sunday when it fell to the Maryland Terrapins, 3-2, (22-30, 30-26, 28-30, 30-22, 14-16) in College Park Md. The loss snaps the Carolina's 13-game win streak, but the Tar Heels remains atop the ACC with a 9-1 conference record. Carolina is 17-4 overall. With the win, Maryland improves to 10-9, 6-5 in conference action.

Nicole Reis was outstanding for the Tar Heels, recording 30 kills, 16 digs and a .333 hitting percentage. Laura Greene also totaled double-digit kills with 17 to go along with a team-leading 17 digs. Eve Rackham led the squad in assists with 57.

Maryland was led by Carey Brennan with 20 kills and 17 digs and Maria DiLivio with 21 kills. Lindsay Davey led the Terps in assists with 67.

The Tar Heels are back in action Friday, Oct. 26, when they host the Duke Blue Devils at 7 p.m. in Carmichael Auditorium.
