CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-- The UNC volleyball team defeated the Maryland Terrapins, 3-0, Friday night at Carmichael Auditorium in CHapel Hill, N.C. The Tar Heels won by scores of 30-18, 30-16 and 30-21. C oach Sagula's team improves to 8-3 overall with a 2-0 record in ACC play. The Terrapins fall to 4-4 overall.
Junior Laura Greene led a balanced Tar Heel attack with nine kills and four assists. Greene was one of four Tar Heels to record at least 5 kills in the game. Juniors Malaika Underwood and Holly Strauss recorded seven kills each with freshman Katie Wright chipping in with six.
Junior setter Eve Rackham, who was hampered by a sprained ankle, played sparingly, but led Carolina with 18 assists.
The Tar Heels are back in action Tuesday September 25, when they host Charlotte at 7 p.m. in Carmichael Auditorium.
