Led by Nicole Reis' 25 kills, 18 digs and .460 hitting percentage, the UNC volleyball team defeated Kansas, 3-1, (30-28, 30-24, 29-32, 30-26) in front of 9,500 fans in Carmichael Auditorium Friday night. The win is the Tar Heels 12th-consecutive victory and improves coach Joe Sagula's squad to 16-3 for the season, 8-0 in the ACC. With the loss, Kansas falls to 12-6, 4-1 in the Big 12.
Laura Greene was also in double-figure kills (20) and digs (14) for the Tar Heels. Eve Rackham led the squad in assists with 56 to go along with her 11 digs, while Malaika Underwood recorded 11 assists and 14 digs. Freshman Caroline deRoeck set her career-high in digs with 16.
Kansas was led in kills and digs by Sarah Rome, who recorded 16 kills and 19 digs. LaMere Molly led the Jayhawks in assists with 51 and added 12 digs, as well.
As a team, the Tar Heels out hit the Jayhawks .247 to .176 and recorded 93 total digs to 85 for Kansas.
Carolina looks to make it 13 in a row when they travel to Virginia to face the Cavaliers Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.
